Happy New Year Golfers!
We hope you have had an enjoyable festive period. Both Andy and I were busy before Christmas with my wedding…
Yes, thankfully Sophie did turn up. Andy is away on his belated honeymoon to Australia, fingers crossed he brings some much need sunshine back. The weather has been somewhat relentless of late, with heavy rain over night shutting the course yesterday. Please take care when playing as the ground is very wet under foot.
Even though the weather hasn't been its best, people have been working hard at their golf games ready for the new season. It's not too late to make those changes ready for the season ahead, let us help you achieve your goals for 2016! Book your lesson and we will get your golf game ready for the spring. Click here.
The new year of golf has begun already this week with the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, from the plantation course at Kapalua, Hawaii. Always one of my favourite events of the year to watch, (maybe because I'm jealous of the weather).
2016, sees a significant change to the rules of golf with introduction of the Anchoring ban, it will affect a few people this year including members at Peterborough Milton. Please see below some selected details form the R&A website. This will cause a few people some problems, if you need some help making the transition please do not hesitate to come and see us in the shop as we will be happy to help.

With the ground being slippery your balance is going to be tested even more than usual when playing your shots. Balance is one of the key ingredients to every good golf swing, so this week we are going to give you a tip to help improve your balance.
Firstly, the whole point to this exercise is to gain awareness of your own balance, start by taking your golf setup and making a practise swing with your eyes closed! (Easier said than done). This should give you a really good feel for your balance. With your eyes open, make a practise swing with all your weight on your heels and then the same swing with the weight on your toes, repeat it a couple of times and then make a swing with your weight on the balls of your feet.
By the time you have done this a few times, you will have a good understanding of what your balance is like and where your balance mistakes tend to go. You can do this at home on the driving range, practise swings or even hitting golf balls.
Practise this for a few times a day and you will be surprised how your balance can improve your ball striking.
Fingers crossed the weather holds for the weekend, look forward to seeing you all soon
