The weather has been much better so far thisweek, dare I say feels like springs round thecorner. Fingers crossed it is nice for theEaster bank holiday.

We had the Northants PGA Pro-am here at Miltonyesterday, Course played very well for the timeof year, with the greens running very nicelywhich was shown in the scores. Winning Pro was PaulBroadhurst with 66, tied 2nd DanWood & SimonLilly with 67, I finished 5thwith 74 (Adam). Winning teamwas Paul Broadhurstteam with a fantastic 23 under par.

This week we are going to talk about chippingfrom the edge of the green, this is a vital shotto help you try and get the ball close enough toone putt. The most common mistake here is peopletry to lift the ball in the air with their righthand. The best way to chip is to try and keepeverything as close to how you use your putteras possible. The only difference is you havemost of your weight on your front foot with theball slightly back of middle in your stance,this will help your club travel down and throughthe ball. The key to chipping the ball well isto keep wrist action to a minimum and let theloft of the club pop the ball in the air andthen roll to the hole. The chipping action isnot a long swing and is designed to make theball roll upon landing. You can use any clubfrom your lob wedge to your 3 wood.
