It was the start of the Players Championship atSawgrass yesterday, this is always a great eventwith the finishing holes being some of, if notthe, toughest in golf; it should be greatviewing! Who wouldn't love the opportunity toplay the 17th?! Scoring on day 1 was very good,with world number one Jason Day shooting acourse equalling 63 (-9) in round one to lead by2. Some of the outfits on show, which got plentyof coverage, were interesting to say the least…

Fix Your Slice

This week we are going to help you understandhow you can stop the ball curving to the right(for a right hander) better known as the dreadedslice. 

The key to fixing a slice is to understand thatthe club face is too open (aiming right) atimpact. So we must learn to square the face, wehave all seen the people with left arm bentduring and through impact, the problem with thisis it can prevent the club face from squaring atimpact (unless you are very inventive with yourwrist). 

Next time your practicing try and copy thisvideo, by putting a glove under your leftarm (for a right handed golfer) and feeling likethe clubface is pointed more towards the groundthan to the sky during the downswing. By puttingthe glove under your armpit it encourages you torotate properly through the ball into a finish.This will also allow the left shoulder to rotateproperly during the swing, which will enable youto release the club face more effectively(squarer at impact).

LadiesCounty Championship - We Have A Winner

Lastweekend PMGC hosted the Ladies NorthamptonshireCounty Championship, in glorious conditions.PMGC was well represented with all players formthe club playing well in qualifying to getthrough to the weekend. 

PMGC member Thalia Martinwas in fine form on Friday, shooting 74.78 grossto qualify for the weekend as top seed.Following strong wins in her two matches onSaturday (including an 8 and 6 win in one game).She continued her fine form in the final,2&1 against Wellingborough's Mary MacLaren,a former County Champion andinternational. Coming from 2 down at the turn,Thalia Birdied 11, 12,and 13 to go 1 up 
and then won the 14th, finishing as CountyChampion on the 17th. 

Excellent golf played by both!
