Good afternoon golfers, it's been somewhat of a wintery week at the course with many players having to dig out the winter gear to battle the conditions. Fingers crossed for a better few months of weather so the season can really get into full swing! Golf is more enjoyable when the weather is nice and you're playing well, both of which are somewhat harder in cold, wet and windy conditions!

"It has been a busy couple of weeks for our juniors.
Our Junior team of Charlie Armitage, Michael Wood, Sam Ludlow and Sam Balaam had a good victory at home to Northampton Golf Club in the National RBL knockout and now travel to Beedles Lake in Leicestershire in the next round.
In the Northamptonshire Junior League our A team of Charlie Armitage, Michael Wood, Hamish Leeds and Ben Mackenzie got a good draw away at Northampton and our B Team of Jade Roberts, Will Smith, Jacob Williams and Rylan Thomas had a great win, also at Northampton. On Tuesday, several Milton juniors made a good showing in the County Championships in miserable conditions at Overstone. Special mention to Jade Roberts who won the Girls 14 and Under competition and also to Jacob Williams winning the boys equivalent age division.
Our two form players won two of the "Junior Majors" on Thursday. Charlie Armitage won the Eric Robinson Trophy and consolidated his lead at the top of the junior Order of Merit. Meanwhile Jade Roberts scored a great 43 points, including 26 on the front 9 to win the Red Robin Trophy. Jade's handicap has now come down remarkably from 45 to 15 in 12 months and Jade has recently made her debut for the County Junior Girls Scratch Team. Well done to all of our juniors who continue to represent the Club very well".

Tip of the week: Is your grip killing your golf game?
The majority of golfers that are struggling with their games have poor grips. The only part of the us that touches the club is our hands, it is crucial that we put our hands on the club in a position that we can allow our wrist to work correctly in our swing. This will help you hit the ball further and straighter. Click here to watch a video explaining the correct grip.
But don't take my word for it! Read Sam Snead thoughts on the grip.
"If most golfers gripped a knife and fork the way they do a golf club they would starve to death"- Sam Snead
