Good afternoon golfers from what seems and feels like a tropical Peterborough,

What a few weeks of sport coming up, the European Championship starts tonight with hosts France playing against Romania, England play Russia tomorrow night- could this be our year?! I very much hope so but very much doubt it- let's just hope some of the younger players get their chance to shine. Next week see the start of the second major of the year, The US Open at Oakmont. This great venue promises to delivers an exciting event, let us know who you think will be victorious?! It's hard to see past Jason Day or Rory on current form, personally I think Luke Donald or Sergio may be worth an outside bet!

Coaching news

Tip of the week - How important are drills?

Most people when going to the driving range are doing nothing more than just exercising and working on bad habits. They grab 50-100 golf balls and proceed to hit them down the range, with little thought of what they are trying to improve/work on. If you want to improve your golf you need to have some structure to your practise. So this week we have produced a video that incorporates some of the essential moves for playing consistent golf. Next time you go to the range try this routine

Golf Circuit Training

In our regular coaching sessions we use a lot of drills (as a lot of you know!) as we feel hitting a lot of balls using specific drills is the most effective and time efficient way to improve your swing. So we have decided to put on a group session aimed at this, on Thursday 23rd May at 6.30pm for 1 hour our aim will be simple- hit as many balls as possible using tried and tested drills to work on your swing. All balls will be included and the cost is £10 per person, limited to 6 people so please contact us to book

Short game clinic

Thanks to everyone who attended our short game clinic on Thursday, we hope you all had a great session and I am sure the new found skills will help lower your scores. It was great to see everyone working hard on their games! Watch this space for more dates.

Beginner lessons

Do you know someone who is looking to take up this great game? If so we have the perfect solution to introduce them to it- a free 6 week beginner course. The next course starts on Saturday 9th July, spaces are filling fast so please contact us for more information or to book a place.

Junior lessons

Our hugely successful Saturday afternoon junior lessons have been going from strength to strength and junior golf is thriving, we have our next 6 week course starting on the 9th July, for children aged 5 and up and is open to everyone. All equipment is provided and is free for any child who has not attended previously, £15 for academy/junior members or £30 for non-members who have been before. Please contact us to book, we will confirm times and groups once we have exact numbers.

One to one lessons

Has your season started well or has there been too many .1s on to your handicap? If so why not turn your season around and have a lesson or 2? We have different packages available, starting with our fault fixer one off lesson for £20. We are confident we can help you to improve and have a better second half of the season.
