Greetings golfers,
We hope you have been enjoying the weather as it has been fantastic for the last few weeks, you wouldn't think we would be asking for rain a few weeks ago! It's Captains day this weekend and David has been busy organising everything. There is over 170 members playing, we are looking forward to a really good day and celebrating Captain's Day.
Today sees the start of the PGA championship from Baltusrol. We are struggling to make our minds up who is favourite this week, Sergio is always a favourite but he never seems to be able to quite get the job done, let us know who you think will win the final major of the year? Can a British player win, how about another good performance from crowd favourite Beef!

Never Yip Again
This week we are going to talk about holing those crucial short putts. The key to holing short putts is having the putter face and club path square (pointing at your target) at impact.
When you miss a short putt, it can be caused by a number of reasons, it could be your backswing has gone off one line whether this is too far inside or too far outside the line. One of the best training aids is a putting rail where you rest your putter on the rail and it helps you groove a correct putting stroke.
If you don't have a rail you can use this drill with two tee pegs. Find a straight putt about 3-4 feet from the hole, then align the ball and the putter square to the hole, now place the tees close but not touching the putter (give yourself some room for error to start with).
Now you are set up roll some balls and try not to hit the tees. This will give you some feedback instantly from the two tee pegs. As you get better make the tee pegs really close to the ball. Practise this drill and you will find you have a much better control of your club path and the face angle.
If you are still struggling why not take advantage of our current short game lesson offer, which is one hour of putting, chipping and pitching for £35. Please contact us, or click here, to book this lesson offer.
