Good afternoon golfers,
I hope you are all well and enjoying some good golf. The British Masters at The Grove got underway yesterday, with some of the European Tours biggest stars playing. Being so close provides a great opportunity to see some live tour golf, if you have a spare day or two I would highly recommend heading over to spectate.
In other golf news, Tiger Woods delayed his comeback citing his game wasn't tournament ready. Social media speculation went into overdrive, some stating he has huge issues with his chipping. It will certainly be interested viewing if/when he returns to competitive golf.

Where does the club contact the ground for an iron shot?
This week I would like to start with a question. Where does the club contact the ground for an iron shot?
1. Just before the golf ball
2. Directly under the golf ball
3. After the golf ball
The correct answer is 3: after the golf ball. This is commonly referred to as the low point of the swing and it is where you make contact with the ground.
Where you strike the ground has an significant effect on your ball striking, and is a key factor to anyone or any swing. Striking the ground in the correct place, will transform your ball striking, give you more distance and a much better ball flight. Quite often people will say they are trying to scoop the ball into the air, trying to get under the ball etc.. As the winter approaches the ground is beginning to soften therefore ball striking is paramount to good golf.
Drill: Try this the next time you're on the driving range, place 5 tee pegs in a line towards to the target (normal tee pegs not step tees). Place a ball on top of the middle tee peg (you will have two tees behind and two in front) and make a swing. You will now get instant feedback as to which tee pegs you strike. If struck correctly notice how the tees after the golf ball have been removed but the others are still there.
Please note, if you are someone who takes big deep divots already (after the ball) or hits the ball very low, then this drill isn't for you. If you would like any help or advice please contact us, golf is more fun when you play well!
