Brooks Koepka Wins The US Open
Brooks Koepka was a worthy winner of the 117th US Open last week at Erin Hills, starting the final round 1 shot back before firing an awesome round of 67 to win by 4. He was playing alongside Englishmen Tommy Fleetwood who finished 4th with a total of -11. Another impressive finish by Fleetwood and he is showing his true class and could be a good bet for The Open at Birkdale!
One of the highlights of the week was Justin Thomas' 3rd round, shooting an incredible 63 (-9) to record the lowest ever score to par in a US Open. A lot was made of the rough pre-tournament and although the fairways were generous the rough was penal so hitting fairways was the key to good scores. Brooks Koepka hit 49 out of 56 fairways and an impressive 62 out of 72 greens in regulation, great golf all week and a deserved victory.

We Did It
"We began at 04:10, it was still so dark that we could not see any balls land until the third. We finished at 21:05, feeling very tired, but with a great sense of achievement.
We played an Am Am format, best two from four to score, full handicap. We played ready golf and rounds 1,2 & 4 were completed in just less than 3 1/2 hours, but round 3 was slower as we had two singles matches come up behind us, which we let through. Our scores were 86, 87, 89 and a very tired 76. The 89 in the third round was boosted hugely by Andy Thorpe's EIGHT birdies. Andy also had six birdies in the 2nd round.
The number of nett birdies or better was 14, 15, 18 and 10 giving a total of 57 nett birdies or better. The sweep winner was myself with a lucky guess of Heinz varieties 57. I have donated the winnings to the charity.
Big thanks to the following: Little Rich who opened up the kitchen early to cook us a fantastic breakfast after round 1; Andy Izod, for coordinating the sweep and generally helping with the day; and my playing partners, Ladies captain Chris Hunt, pro Andy Thorpe and Charles Gunn.
Finally thank you to everyone who has donated to the charity! It's a little early to give a final figure for amount raised, but I can say that we have definitely raised over £1,000 so far.
If you haven't donated yet, It's not too late. The 'Just Giving' donation page below will be open for another four weeks or so."
