I hope you are all well. It’s been a quieter than usual week at the Club due to the rain but thankfully the Pro Am managed to go ahead yesterday and there’s a full recap below.

The biggest Midland Pro Am of 2017 so far!

Despite the wet and windy conditions the course stood up to the test very well. We have received loads of compliments regarding how well the course was playing considering the conditions. With 43 (172 players) teams playing it was the biggest Midland Pro Am of the 2017 season so far.

Scoring was tough with 70 (-1) a tie for 1st place in the Pro Individual event, shot by Simon Lilly, Paul Streeter and James Whatley. There were 6 players a shot further back including Adam who despite the lack of sleep and golf battled it round for a great round of 71, including up and downs from the Ha-Ha on the 14th for a 3 and the 15th for a 5! Well done Ads, a great round! Adam was the only Pro from Milton playing as Sam is away on his honeymoon and I am currently injured. The team event was won by Collingtree Park on -12 with PMGC teams finishing tied 2nd, 4th and 5th.

Can Spieth complete the Grand Slam?

The USPGA gets underway today at Quail Hollow with Jordan Spieth aiming to complete his career Grand Slam. The course is playing a whopping 7,600 yards and being played as a par 71. It should be great viewing with players hitting longer than normal clubs into the greens which are surrounded by long rough, and it will be interesting to see what score is good enough to win (Phil Mickleson tipped level par to be close!) Ernie Els and Phil Mickleson are making their 100th start each in a Major this week, which is an amazing achievement.

Adam and I are putting on our first pre-season ‘Pro Away Trip’ from 5th March to 10th March when we will be visiting La Manga in Spain for 5 nights and would be delighted if you could join us!
