Good afternoon golfers, we trust you are well and enjoyed the Open Championship as much as we all did. With great golf on view all week, Rory led from start to finish. Even with a strong finish by Garcia and Fowler. I hope you all had an few bets on last week's tips! Hopefully I learnt a thing or two as I'm away playing in the Midland Masters today at Kedlestone Park Golf Club.
Today it's ladies Captain's day today, hope Jacqueline has a great day.

Adam and I played in Sutton Bridges Centenary Pro Am last Friday. Unfortunately neither of us had the greatest scores in tricky conditions- both shooting 76. However Adam's team of 3 Sutton Bridge members and himself won the team score by a staggering 7 shots. Helped along the way by Adam's guidance and 6 birdies!

Reduce your scores by erasing 3 putts
We should always be aiming to 1 putt, however, statistically once we are outside 10 feet we will miss more than we will hole. Therefore pace is vital when you are looking to 1 or 2 putt. We have fairly flat greens at Milton on the whole. Therefore straight at the hole with the correct pace would never be too far away.
Technique-
Aim to hit the putt to travel maximum between 8-10 inches past the hole.
Swing the putter the same length back and through.
Avoid any drastic change of tempo in the backswing and through swing. This makes it very difficult to get the correct weight consistently. Try letting the weight of the putter swing, to help your tempo.
Drills-
Putt balls to tee pegs. Judge the pace and dont worry about holing the putt.
Measure and mark out 6, 12 and 18 inches behind and infront of the ball and practise how far different lengths of swings, putt the ball different distances.
Practice long putts with your eyes closed to improve your feel.
If you're putting badly it might be a good time to book a lesson and let us help you to improve your scores. With club championships and other competitions fast approaching do it now and perform better.
