Scratch Team “Our first home game of the season and one we desperately needed to win after two away losses. Sadly it was not to be! Milton started out really well and were 3-1 up after 4 games. Dom Ralfs and myself were never in too much difficulty and won well. Special mention to Jay Noye who was drafted in after a drop out and proceeded to play probably the golf of the day to be under par and winning 8 & 6! With the final two games down, it came to Ian Wicks and James Walters to get us a result. Ian turned his game a round with a great 4 on 15 followed by a birdie at 16 to go dormie up. I then witnessed probably the longest drive ever seen on 17 from Ian’s opponent. 43 yards to the flag, so over 340 yards!! However Ian calmly made 4 to win the game. James also had battled back and was all square going down the last. He didn’t know it at the time, but a half point would have won us the game. Sadly, a firm bounce left off 18 tee meant the ball ended in the bushes and the game was up. So a 4-4 draw. We are off the mark but in this league, it is so important to win home games. We now need to do something away as well as win remaining homes. A tough ask”. Martin Herson

Junior update Our Academy Juniors made their debut in the new Northamptonshire Golf Sixes league at Overstone on Saturday and the whole team did the club proud on and off the course. For many of the squad, it was their first game on a course other than Milton and despite understandable nerves, the standard of golf was of high quality with lots of examples from following Adam's coaching drills. We think we can safely say that our pairing of Isaac W and Harry R are the youngest ever pair to represent the club, both age 7. |
|
Overstone who had the most experienced squad on the day, made full use of home advantage and local knowledge, and were deserved winners with 127 points. PMGC and Northampton tied for second with 113 points. Two further league matches are scheduled in August hosted by PMGC and Northampton so it's all to play for. Well done Evie, Isaac H, Thomas, Harry H, Will, Louis, Isaac W and Harry R, we are all very proud of you and looking forward to seeing you in the Scratch League before long! And finally a very big thank you to all the parents and volunteers who helped leading up to and on the day. The smiling faces made it all worthwhile.

Which bracket do you fall in? |
There’s one thing that you'll always need in abundance when playing golf and that’s balls - and plenty of them. Each golf ball we sell offers different levels of feel and performance at varying price points, meaning we have something to offer all playing preferences and budgets. |
| Bang for your buck Balls at a cheaper price point usually have one key performance benefit rather than offering a little of everything. This Callaway Warbird follows the trend by offering maximum distance with your longer clubs thanks to its aerodynamic dimples and high-energy core, giving you lots of power for little expenditure. |
| The all-rounder If you’re looking for more balanced performance through the bag but without the premium price tag, this Callaway Supersoft ball is designed to be long, straight and soft. It doesn’t spin as much as the Chrome Soft, but its low compression core helps create long, high flights that land softly. |
| Tour performance The saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly applies when it comes to golf balls. Callaway's Chrome Soft is their premium option, and it's easy to see why, with a soft urethane cover for short-game spin and a graphene-infused core that boosts ball speed and provides more iron control. |
