Junior Golf Sixes On Monday PMGC hosted our first ever Junior Golf Sixes event , supported by the Golf Foundation and European Tour to give academy players their first taste of competitive golf. Overstone Park took the honours in the team event and Tyler Langwith from Overstone won the Drive, Chip and Putt. Milton's very young team (average age 9) played well coming in third and had wins in Best Drive (Harry Hayes), Best Chip (Adam Symonds) and Best Putting (Isaac Wakefield).
Girls Team On the team front, Milton's girls go from strength to strength and beat Wellingborough Juniors to top their county league and progress into the NGL league semi-finals in September, well done to the squad of Jade, Shivani, Emily, Hannah, Megan and Assistant Team Manager Ellie Mae!
National events Meanwhile Milton's juniors have been making waves on the coast in prestige national events. Emily Horsted came 2nd in the Abraham Trophy (to find the most improved girl golfer in England) at Lyme Regis with a magnificent 5 under nett 69, with Kettering's Ashleigh Critchley continuing her fine run of form winning the title with a gross 72, nett 68. After qualifying for the matchplay stages with fine rounds of gross 71,70 around Formby and Hesketh, Robin Williams just lost out to a birdie barrage from his opponent in the last 16 stages of the English Mens Amateur last week and this week Robin plays for England Boys in the Home Internationals at Royal Dornoch (at time of writing played 2, won 2). This week the junior section heads off on masse for some more links experience, with a coachload of 17 Milton juniors playing at the lovely Sheringham Golf Club in their junior open. Finally can we say a very big thank you once again to the Board and you, the members, for all your support and interest in the junior section and for allowing us to take up regular tee times in the busy summer holiday months - it is really appreciated by Derek, myself, our juniors and the parents. Thank you. Charles
