Hello Golfers,

Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, we hope you are well and enjoying some good golf. It has been a busy week at the Club with a county match on Monday, Club competitions Tuesday and Wednesday plus plenty lessons and fittings.

It was inspiring to watch Brooks Koepka win major number 4 at Bethpage Black, even with a wobble the back 9 including 4 bogies in a row and Dustin Johnson getting to within 1 shot. Brooks Koepka held on to win on -8, leading from day 1 until the very end. The course looked incredibly tough with lots of heavy rough which caught a lot of players out, scoring was higher than usual with 1 over par finishing tied 8th. Koepka has more Major wins than regular tour wins and it’s hard to imagine him not winning more.

Junior news

Junior update…

There is a busy half term week coming up for the juniors and we thank members in advance if you could take note of the junior tee bookings next week in the diary section and on the whiteboard outside the pro shop.

With the start of our NGL Junior League campaign coming up away to Rushden on Sunday and the Junior County Championships coming up at Cold Ashby next Thursday, it's good to see our juniors hitting form. Well done to Rylan Thomas (75-8 = 67) and Robin Williams (72) who scored the best nett and gross scores respectively in the first qualifier for the Men's Club Championships. Robin added a highly impressive 65 gross in the midweek stableford (40 points) to tune up nicely for some big tournaments coming up.

Well done also to May Junior Medal Winner Kai Raymond whose nett 68 earns him a place in the junior pro-am team in August. Kai heads off to the US Kids European Championships at Royal Musselburgh next week - go well Kai.

Good luck next Thursday to the 13 juniors representing Peterborough Milton at Cold Ashby and to Robin playing in the English Men's Open Strokeplay (Brabazon Trophy) at Alwoodley, Leeds.

Also good luck to all the juniors playing in the second Junior Major of the year - the Eric Robinson and Red Robin trophies on Tuesday - and also to the junior teams representing the club next week in county, regional and national competitions. Watch this space for news!
