Scratch League Update - Harlestone 7.5 : 0.5 PMGC The result says it all, a total disaster! Playing an away match on the last day of The Open and on a Medal day created “availability issues” – I will leave it at that. So on paper an under strength side travelled to Harlestone on what I believe was the best chance of some away points, but it was not to be. Only Michael Wood got on the scoreboard with a great half point to add to his win in the first game. Sadly the other games were not even close with only two matches reaching the 16th. Notwithstanding this, it was not for the want of trying and I want to thank Martin Humphries, Stephen Smail and Sam Ludlow for answering late call ups, Ian Wicks for playing with a recovering hamstring (and needing a buggy to get round) and Chris White who has the longest commute for any game. League table to date: PW LD Pts Northants County - P4 W2 L1 D1 =5pts Wellingborough - P3 W1 L1 D1 =3pts Northampton - P3 W1 L2 D0 =2pts Staverton - P2 W1 L1 D0 =2pts PMGC - P2 W1 L1 D0 =2pts (on “goal average”) So last, but played only 2 of 8 and we are nearly in August. Fixtures are not ideal as shock horror, Milton have the most listed games in the main holiday month! We need more of our top guns stepping up to be competitive in this League. If not then down we go becoming a “Championship side” Man of the Match - Easy one, Michael Wood with the only half point and remains unbeaten! Martin Herson
