Over in Division One Kai Raymond just pipped Shivani Karthikeyan on the back 9, both with 35 points. In the Academy Division, 5 players played their first 18 hole competition from the red tees and it was Gabriel Bowden who followed in Grandad Tom's footsteps taking first prize with a stunning 51 points(!) and a rapid reduction in handicap from 54 to 45! Sam Mayman came in 2nd with 45 points and sees his handicap fall from 54 to 50. In the annual Bass/Tenneson Trophy match against Sheringham Juniors, we had a great trip to the beautiful North Norfolk Links and in lovely sunshine, the home team just prevailed in a very friendly match played in the sporting spirit that Keith and Myers would have been proud of. Ellie Horsted won the Lincolnshire Girls Patrons Trophy with a nett 66 at Blankney and sees her handicap fall to 22 - and with sister Emily taking a ladies pairs title at Belton Park the family home will soon need an extension for a bigger trophy cabinet. Shivani Karthikeyan blitzed the field in the IMG Junior World Championships qualifier at Woodhall Spa and reward for her second round gross 75 around The Hotchkin course is a trip next summer to US Open course Torrey Pines for the World Final. At time of writing, Robin Williams is doing well again in the latest MENA tour event in the United Arab Emirates and opening rounds of 69 and 70 see Robin in the top 20 entering the final round. Good luck to Robin who is in good form heading to Spain next week for European Tour Qualifying Stage 2. Finally, the season was rounded off with a most enjoyable match against the Captains team. The juniors were fast out the blocks to race into a 3-0 lead but the Captain had some wily old foxes down the order and they fought back well to secure an honourable 3-3 final result. Junior Captain Sam Balaam rounded off a great season by thanking the Captain and the members for all the fantastic support the juniors receive from the club. Thanks Charles |
