Good afternoon golfers, Hope you are enjoying a better week’s weather and hopefully getting out to play some golf. Enjoy the read |
What A Win Did anyone see Tyrell Hatton win the Bay Hill Invitational on Sunday? It’s always great to see an Englishman win a big tournament. Tyrell certainly wears his emotions on his sleeve but he manages to control them. It shows you that everyone is different and it is sometimes ok to show your frustrations as long as you don’t carry them over to the next shot. |
2019 Captains raised a remarkable amount of money for a fantastic local charity! On Tuesday at the club the 2019 Captains made a joint presentation to their charity, Little Miracles. Collectively, Mike, Karen and Graham raised an amazing £24,500 thanks to the generosity of club members and supporters. Chief Executive of the charity, Michelle King, along with volunteers and even three of the children, were delighted to receive the cheque on behalf of the locally based children’s charity, commenting how surprised, delighted and grateful they were for the amazing amount raised. |
|
Michelle went on to say that £3,000 of the money had already been spent taking over 700 children to The Cresset Panto just before Christmas and that the balance will fund many additional holidays away in the summer months for the children and their families supported by Little Miracles I would like to say a huge congratulations to all the captains for all their hard work for the charity! |
Sam doing what he does best, helping people with their golf PUTTING YIPS! We started by looking in to which hand was the issue. We then put the hands in a position where the right hand had no say on what the putter did. The yip is still there but it is now forcing the hand away from the grip and not twisting it. The Captains day with the green staff I have just spent a fantastic day with the course team at Peterborough Milton Golf Club. What a hard working, dedicated and knowledgeable team they are. Their skills with all the specialist equipment was truly impressive. I arrived at 7:15, 30 minutes after they started and found them well into their light greens maintenance programme. This involves cutting all the greens and surrounds, top dressing each green with 1.5 tonnes of sand, spiking the green, brushing the sand in the spike holes, rolling with the turf iron and repositioning the flags. By 3 o’clock, all the greens had been taken to sanding stage, with 8 of them fully completed with new holes on the greens. Should be finished tomorrow. |
|
Meanwhile, Jody and Tim were cutting fairways, rough and strimming round trees to keep the rest of the course looking good. The team were great with me and trusted me to carry out every task, including cutting the fairway on 6, spiking on 5 and 7, brushing on 6 and 9, and replacing the pins on 1, 2, 6, 8 and 9. I particularly liked the bit where you put your hand down the old hole to get all the dressing and bits of mud out before sealing it up with the plug taken to form the new hole. A great big thank you from me to Stephen and his team for making me feel so welcome and also feel part of the team. We are very fortunate to have such a professional and motivated team looking after our course. Let's treat it with the respect it deserves, and pray for some sunshine so we can get out and enjoy it properly. Thank you guys Mr Captain |

What do we want? Straighter shots. When do we want it? Now! Starting the ball on the right line is key and, by watching the video below, you'll learn one of the simplest ways to do exactly that. |
‘One of the important things about good golf is consistency and repetition’ We all know that’s easier said than done so when there's a way of creating consistency, it makes sense to take advantage. That is the point of Golf Pride’s ALIGN grips, which feature a raised ridge on the back (the red strip) to ensure repetitive hand placement, helping to keep the face square throughout the swing. Even better still, you can get a FREE ALIGN grip by coming to see us for a grip fitting! Click the link for more information.
